Once the intial design was chosen, both hand calculations and finite element simulations were run to determine stress states. Utilizing finite element analysis with 250,000 nodes provides an accurate depiction of stresses throughout the model and allows our team to make effective design choices when revising the model. The design is “finished” when hand calculations and software simulations are in agreement and show the desired properties.
